Seven years ago I became a yoga teacher. I often had students comment on how grounded and peaceful I was. One student even said, ‘You are so peaceful and calm, no wonder you are a yoga teacher!’ I ever so gracefully laughed out loud, right in her face, and exclaimed, ‘Um NO! it is because I do yoga that I can be calm and peaceful; in my regular life I am a shit-show!’. Oops, I think I broke the spell for her 🙂
But that is what I am about ladies – Authenticity with a capital A. Heck, make it all capitals, AUTHENTICITY. There is no room for b.s. here, that is one of the big reasons I couldn’t hack it in my former career – B.S. galore.
Life can be messy and hectic and stressful. Especially with kids in the melee, committed partner, a cat or dog, mortgage, vehicles, a will to do good in the world and be sustainable. Wow, that is a lot on our plates – we live in a have your cake and eat it too world and as a result our waist bands (figuratively and literally!) are getting a bit tight, leaving us with little room to breathe.
So we dim down and tune out – eat, drink, watch tv, sleep…
Where is the spark, where is the freedom?
This is what I am committed to teaching you – how to press the pause button, find some space to breathe and reignite true joy, pleasure and freedom into your life.
It took me a lot of soul searching, great yoga, loving husband, amazing therapist and a lot of training and experimentation to finally find what is true for me. I have finally integrated the peaceful grounded yogini persona into my everyday life, right into the core of who I am…well most days. We are all a beautiful evolutionary work in progress.
So I live my life at the corner of peace and chaos and I do it with as much grace and beauty as I can muster each and every day.
